Reading

Reading was very important at my school. I taught guided reading, shared reading, fluency, word study, and daily language review.

Guided reading and Shared reading lesson plans

Literacy Centers
This was an assignment in my reading class. I used these with fifth graders. The students enjoyed the centers!

Math

I tried to make math fun and practical for the students, using real world examples. Students saw my enthusiasm for math and wanted to learn more. I met with students before school, after school, and during recess to answer questions. I also started a math club for talented math students. This club met before school twice a week at the students' request! We made line graphs, bar graphs, pie charts, and looked for patterns in Pascal's Triangle.

Two lesson plans

Science

I enjoyed teaching science to fourth graders. The students enjoyed science too, especially the hands on science experiments! This is a unit plan for the Solar System unit and a lesson plan for the first day.

This is a science experiment performed by the students.

What is a scientist?? In our first science lesson I dresses in my science "outfit": lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses. Students described a scientist as a person with crazy hair, glasses, a mask, pocket protector, lab coat and gloves. Scientists are intelligent and study many things from chemicals to dinosaurs. This lesson concluded with students singing "The Scientific Method." The Scientific Method was used in all following lab experiments.

Food Chain posters were made as a group project following a unit on food chains.

Water Cycle bulletin board

The Pet Peeves bulletin board included writing and art. It was put up in time for Halloween.
